The Connecticut Sun celebrates 25th anniversary with custom jerseys to highlight new draft picks

UNCASVILLE, Conn., Sept. 12, 2024 — The Connecticut Sun is launching build-your-own jerseys to celebrate the upcoming season and 25th anniversary. The merchandise will be promoted in-arena and online for fans to represent their favorite players during the 2024-25 season.

This merchandise launch is the first since April 2024, when the Sun dropped Nike Rebel Edition uniforms to serve as an homage to Mohegan culture and history. In comparison, this launch will have jerseys with the fans' choice of player name and jersey number, along with a new logo showcasing the anniversary. The merchandise will drop at midnight on Jan. 1, 2024, and orders will stop at 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2024. All sales will be held online on the WNBA app or in Mohegan Sun Arena during games in the month of January. The team will also do in-arena promotions and discounts to increase ticket sales and fan interaction.

CEO Jennifer Rizzotti strives to create a fun environment for fans to support the Sun. Including pop up shops and QR codes in the arena will create plenty of opportunities for fans to create their perfect jersey.

“The Connecticut Sun has been bringing in more attention since the 2024 draft,” said Rizzotti. “The fans will absolutely love the opportunity to represent their new favorite players with customized jerseys for our upcoming anniversary! There will be options like player name, color and logo placement.”

Along with in-arena promotion, fans can also participate in online orders through the month of January. All online orders will be placed through the WNBA app where fans can also stream games and stay updated with all teams throughout the season.

“The WNBA app has been essential for fans to keep track of game schedules and stats. It would be a great promotional opportunity for both the app, and the Sun, if we drop merchandise online,” said Rizzotti.
